We are pleased to announce that Iain Bailey, Jennifer Davis, Joel Franz, Allie Laurent, Marie-Pier Leduc, Rebecca Silverberg, and Ryan Trainer have been welcomed to the firm’s partnership.
Iain Bailey (Calgary) is a member of our Labour & Employment group and co-chair of our Occupational Safety practice group. Iain’s practice focuses on workplace compliance. He acts on behalf of employers, defending clients from prosecution relating to regulatory offences, class actions concerning working conditions, and in other employment-related matters brought before courts and administrative tribunals.
Jennifer Davis (Edmonton) maintains a diverse practice that includes litigation, insurance and risk management, construction, privacy, and health law. She represents corporations and individuals in a variety of commercial litigation disputes including those involving property damage, negligence, and contractual disputes. Jennifer also works with national insurers on an array of insurance matters including commercial builder’s liability, property damage, and product and services liability claims.
Joel Franz (Edmonton) focuses his practice in the areas of insurance, professional liability, estate law, and commercial litigation. In his insurance practice, Joel represents insurers and individuals in all matters involving policies of insurance. In the professional liability arena, Joel defends and prosecutes matters concerning insurance advisors, lawyers, architects, building inspectors, and appraisers. Joel’s commercial litigation experience includes regular involvement on a wide variety of class action matters involving professionals, corporations, and non-profit organizations.
Allie Laurent (Calgary) is a member of our Labour & Employment practice group. Allie maintains a focused labour and employment practice, advising and acting for employers in a variety of industries. She is particularly knowledgeable regarding terminations and wrongful dismissal claims, privacy matters, illness and disability management, policy development and enforcement. Allie also assists clients with human rights matters, and has appeared and participated in conciliations, Tribunal Dispute Resolutions, and before the Human Rights Tribunal.
Marie-Pier Leduc (Yellowknife) represents and advises employers regarding routine HR problems, workplace safety and privacy, collective bargaining, arbitrations, and human rights complaints. She has represented clients in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut before several administrative tribunals, and the Northwest Territories Supreme Court. She has also assisted in the negotiation of numerous collective agreements for municipal and non-municipal clients.
Rebecca Silverberg (Calgary) regularly advises private and public employers in diverse sectors with respect to day-to-day labour relations matters, collective agreement interpretation, collective bargaining, and in both grievance and interest arbitrations. She also frequently advises clients on policy development and implementation, hiring, employment and independent contractor agreements, discipline and dismissal including severance agreements, human rights, disability and illness management, performance management systems, privacy matters, and workplace investigations.
Ryan Trainer (Edmonton) is the co-chair of our Bankruptcy, Insolvency, and Restructuring group. He works on matters in these areas of law for secured lenders, trustees, receivers, insolvent corporations, and commercial landlords. He provides counsel on issues such as, personal property security priority disputes and post-judgment enforcement. Ryan’s practice also encompasses commercial and restructuring litigation. Ryan regularly counsels clients in collection, fraud, fraudulent transfer, and general litigation matters.
