Bio
Lubaina is a dedicated advocate who uses her interpersonal skills to make her clients feel supported and well represented.
She has a Commercial Litigation practice and is expanding into Insurance Defence. She serves individuals, small businesses, and major organizations.
Lubaina has worked alongside senior counsel and represented clients in actions before administrative tribunals, the Alberta Court of Justice, and the Alberta Court of King’s Bench for disputes in the energy, power, construction, and transportation sectors.
Prior to law school, Lubaina obtained a Bachelor of Nursing degree from the University of Calgary and worked in acute care in the areas of cardiology and internal medicine for a few years before deciding to pursue a law career.
Passionate about advocacy and legal research, while in law school, Lubaina participated in a criminal trial moot for the Western Canada Trial MacIntyre Cup Moot, acted as a research assistant for two law professors, and was chosen to present her paper to the Indigeneity, Race and the Law panel on the Duty to Consult for the Windsor Review of Legal and Social Issues. She also published legal news and commentary as a Staff Writer and Assistant Editor for Jurist, an online legal news service powered by law students globally.
Outside of her work, Lubaina gives back to her community and has volunteered with the Daraja Foundation Tanzania, Calgary Public Library, and Alberta Health Services, Student Legal Assistance and Pro Bono Law Alberta Civil Claims Duty Counsel Project.
