Bio
The high degree of diligence with which Iain approaches each matter is what sets him apart. He applies attention and care that often exceeds client expectations.
Iain’s practice focuses on workplace compliance. He acts on behalf of employers, defending clients from prosecution relating to regulatory offences, class actions concerning working conditions, and in other employment-related matters brought before courts and administrative tribunals.
In a field that demands acute attention to detail, Iain’s fastidiousness has rendered him successful in defending employers facing issues such as disease outbreaks at work and class action allegations of systemic sexual harassment in the workplace. He has also applied his tireless work effort to defending employers in high jeopardy legal matters including catastrophic incident response and mitigation, and complex internal and external investigations.
As lead counsel, Iain has successfully prevented charges from being laid against clients in relation to numerous workplace fatalities and catastrophic injuries. In cases where charges have been laid, Iain has obtained charge withdrawals, acquittals, and optimal resolutions on behalf of his clients.
For two consecutive years, Iain has been included in the Canadian edition of Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch (Labour & Employment Law), a peer-reviewed recognition for outstanding professional excellence in the first three to eight years of private practice.
Iain routinely conducts seminars and training programs for clients to assist them with regulatory compliance and litigation risk management and is an active member of the Advocates’ Society.
