Completing his Juris Doctor in the spring of 2019 at the University of Calgary, Cesar previously received his Bachelor of Arts; Political Science and International Relations also from the University of Calgary.
Cesar has spent a great deal of time volunteering and committing his time to the Human Rights Project for the University of Calgary chapter of Pro Bono Students of Canada where he was recognized as the 2018-2019 volunteer of the year for the program. He gained experience conducting client interviews, preparing legal documentation for human rights tribunals and dispute resolutions and acted as co-counsel for clients in three such tribunals. Cesar also volunteered with Student Legal Assistance, completing client intakes, researching their matters and representing clients in court.
Before going to law school, Cesar worked as an intake/evening clinic officer for Calgary Legal Guidance, where he referred clients to the various programs and services, screened their legal matters and admitted based on CLG guidelines.
Cesar has a passion for assisting new Canadians and refugees and has spent time working with Immigrant Services Calgary and Legal Aid Alberta (Immigrant Services), and volunteered with several immigrant serving agencies in numerous capacities.
He is fluent in Spanish, enjoys reading science fiction and practices Muay Thai (Thai Boxing).
