Supreme Court Decision in Giant Mine12-Jul-10

On February 12, 2010, the Supreme Court of Canada released its decision on the lawsuit arising out of the Giant Mine explosion in 1992. This decision will assist employers who decide to continue to operate during a labour dispute.
By way of background, on September 19, 1992, during a highly charged strike, nine miners were killed when their mine car exploded underground at the Giant Mine site in Yellowknife, NT. Following this disaster, Roger Warren, a striking miner, was criminally convicted on nine counts of murder.
