McLennan Ross Joins The Climate Registry08-Feb-10
We are proud to announce that on January 29, 2010, McLennan Ross joined The Climate Registry (The Registry) and is the first law firm in Canada to become a member!
What is The Climate Registry?
The Registry is a non-profit collaboration among North American states, provinces and territories that sets consistent and transparent standards to calculate, verify and publicly report greenhouse gas emissions into a single registry.
For further information on the objectives of The Registry and how to get involved please visit www.theclimateregistry.org.
Why has McLennan Ross joined The Registry?
The Registry will have a significant impact on business, and it is important to be knowledgeable about how it works to target climate change and manage greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Organizations that get ahead of the curve will adjust more readily, contain costs, and maximize potential opportunities.
As a demonstration of our leadership in environmental law, we have taken the step of joining The Registry and voluntarily committed to reporting our greenhouse gas emissions. We believe that by doing this we will be gaining the kind of first-hand practical experience in dealing with issues relating to GHG emissions management that our clients will be facing in a carbon-restrained world. Many organizations will need assistance dealing with the new regulatory regime in order to minimize the impact on their businesses, and we welcome the opportunity to assist in that effort.
